The Prehispanic Snackeria

Don Bugito, the Prehispanic Snackeria, is a Bay Area-based company founded in 2011. It is committed to offering planet-friendly high-protein snacks featuring delicious edible insects and treats inspired by Mexican Prehispanic cuisine, Native American ingredients, and my cultural heritage. Growing up in Mexico exposed me to the culturally rich traditions of eating edible insects and their use as "power foods." Don Bugito celebrates and supports food diversity, sustainability, and clean, fair, and good food for all! 

Since the business's launch, we have embraced very positive and challenging moments. Don Bugito is a woman-run company that strives to build a healthier planet for all. A couple of years back, we opened our insect farm operations to provide the highest human-grade insect food in the market. Despite the challenges, we have successfully established ourselves as a reliable provider of sustainable, high-protein snacks. Don Bugito has been featured in PBS The World, The New York Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, The WSJ, The Food Network, and VICE!  

At Don Bugito, we like people who care about the planet and want to change the future while celebrating food diversity and ancient knowledge. We are innovators and creative people open to trying new foods, reimagining new world food experiences, and building community! Salud!
